UNITARIAN CHURCH.

REVS. MR AND MRS CONSTABLE. JOINT PASTORS IN AUCKLAND. 'Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, July 1). Looking forward to their work in a new country, the Rev. W. A. Constable and his wife, the Rev. Wilna Constable, who have been appointed joint pastors of the Auckland Unitarian Church, arrived from Sydney by the Ulimaroa. They were met on the wharf by members of the church, who gave them a most cordial reception. Mr and Mrs Constable both come from Warwick. Mrs Constable was minister of the Unitarian Church there for seven and a-half years before she and her husband received the Auckland appointment. This was the longest single pastorate over held by a woman in England, For nine years Mr Constable was county staff lecturer in literature to the Warwickshire County Council, a position which was tantamount to university extension work. Before going to Warwick, Mr and Mrs Constable, who are both graduates of Edinburgh University, were joint pastors of the Congregational Church in •Sheffield. Mrs Constable said she was not the least frightened of being the only woman minister in Auckland. She thought that women could exercise a humanising influence on the church, and in these days, whan women were entering into practically every branch of public life, it was only right that some of tnom should turn to the church work. Many women were doing valuable work for the churches of all denominations in England.
