DUNEDIN BOWLING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Dunedin Bowling Club was held last night in the club’s pavilion. There was a good attendance of members, and the president (Mr J. B. Frame) occupied the chair. In moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the chairman said the year had been one of quiet progress. The membership was stronger by one this year than in the preceding year, and it now stood at 124. There had been a slight error in the report, which stated that Mr J. Pietersen had presented the club with a framed photograph which had formerly hung in the Windsor Royal Household Bowling Club’s pavilion. Actually, the photograph presented by Mr Pietersen was a copy of the original. The number of marches won by the club during the year was a very creditable one. The social games had also been very successful. During the year Mrs M'Gill Brown had presented to the club a cheque for £2O to procure a shield for rink play’ to commemorate her father’s long connec--tiqn with the club. This shield was now being obtained, and wag to be called the “ Emery Challenge Shield.”' The chairman went on to speak of the excellent work done.by the various committees, and concluded by referring to the balance sheet, which showed that the club was in a very satisfactory position. Mr J. C. Stephens, in seconding the motion, said that during the past two years there had been a large number of, resignations from the club. There had also been, in the last year, what was probably a record number of applications for membership, the number being 23. This had been brought about by the good work of several members, who had made' it their business to _ ask others to join. He concluded by asking other members to do the same and so increase the membership during the next year, ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:-—President, Mr J. M‘Crae; vice-presidents —Messrs I. Stevenson and A. J. Sullivan; directorate — Messrs H. L. Smith, S. Smith, E. A. Roscvear, and H. Williams; auditor, Mr J. Brown; delegatee to centre—Messrs J. C. Whitelaw, J. D. Smith, and G. A. Nelson. It was decided to have only one member on the Green Committee, and Mr A.* Steele was elected to the position. It was decided to have two selectors, and the following were _ elected: —Messrs; J. Bentley and H. Gardiner. , The number of the Club Ties Committee was fixed at two, and the following were elected: —Messrs J. Scott and D. Brown. Mr M'Crae, in assuming the chair, said the next year was goixig to be a very important one, especially as the Dominion tournament was to be held in Dunedin. He asked that all should do their utmost to make the work of the Dominion Council in managing the tournrament as easy as possible. In conclusion, he thanked them for electing him to the position of president of the club. GENERAL. On the motion of the retiring president, it was decided to. enter 18 rinks for the interclub competition. A letter was received from the Dominion Council suggesting that a small levy should be made on all members of bowling clubs to raise a sum of money for the relief of the earthquake sufferers.—lt was decided to adopt the suggestion. Mr J. H. Wilkinson referred to the excellent cervices rendered to the club by Dr A. Hendry. As long as his health had allowed him, he had been a keen, howler,, and, since having had to refrain from" playing, he had done everything in his power to help .the. club. He would move that Dr Hendry should be made a life member, —The motion wae carried ■unanimously.
