TO-DAY’S FOOTBALL.
RUGBY UNION. The public may look forward to a Rugby treat at parisbrook this afternoon when two of the best games of the season should be witnessed. At 1.30 Pirates will meet Alhambra. The Pirates supporters are confident that their team will give a good account, of itself this season, and, ..s the team is now gaining combination, it should prove a formidable proposition to its opponents. Alhambra delighted the public with its display against . University A last Saturday. At 3 p.m. University A will meet Kaikorai. This match is always looked forward to by Rugby followers as one of the games of the season, and, while Kaikorai have lost some of their prominent old players, the team shows much promise. On the North Ground Union will meet Southern, and this should provide n closely contested game. At Montecillo Dunedin _ w.ill play Zingari-Richmond, while Taiori residents should see a good display in the match between University B and Taieri, to be played on the Mosgiel Ground. RUGBY LEAGUE. Good even scoring should be the order of the day in this afternoon’s matches. Kaikorai will meet Pacific on the Caledonian Ground at 3 p.m. Both these teams play sparkling football, so a good game is assured. Christian Brothers and Athletic ..Juniors will play a cur-tain-raiser at 1.30. City and Christian Brothers A will meet on the Oval at 3. These two teams have always a. big following, and this afternoon’s game should he a great exhibition of the code. At Chisholm Park at 3 Christian Brothers B will play Athletic. Knitangata have a bye for this afternoon. ASSOCIATION. Ihe public will bavc the choice of witnessing either of three good local games this afternoon, when Northern and Technical play at Oval No. 1, Seacliff and Mornington at Mornington, and Maori Hill and Old Boys at Prospect Paik. Neither of the. first-mentioned teams has suffered a defeat so far, and the meeting between the two young teams, Northern and Technical, should provide fast and interesting football both having displayed physical fitness in their previous games. The Seacliff and Mornington contest is certain to prove a keen game, the teams being equally matched and having several players of experience in their ranks. Tlic remaining fixture, Y.M.C.A. v, gicl, will be played at Mosgiel.
