CHINESE CARNIVAL.

Th® Chinese carnival, which is being conducted under the auspices of the St, John Ambulance Association, wag con. tinned in His Majesty’s Theatre last even, ing. Large numbers of the public attended the, various branches of the undertaking. The stage entertainment again found favour, the presentation, “Before the Buddha," having lost none of its popularity. In this item Buddhist priests and ritual dancers mingle with tourists from the West. Norman Lemon, Jack Nelson, and Molly Andrews are the vocalists, and Gladys Crossan, Dale Aus. ten, and Fred Wauchop, assisted by the company, lead tba dancing. The second part of the entertainment is composed chiefly of dancing. The "Do’J Dance" is attractively presented by the children, while “ Laugh, Clown Laugh," is rendered by Billie Mills and Fred Wauchop. Noeline Robertson and Violet Lunam are the principals in a dance interlude, “The Blue Danube Waltz," and Sybil Thompson, Gladya Crossan, and Tui Nortbey are seen in an attractive finale. The bazaar section of the' carnival, in Fullers’ Hall, again drew considerable support, and all the stalls report doing excellent business. The cabaret in the Victoria Hall was well patronised, the music being supplied by the Kapai Orchestra. The carnival will be continued this evening. Arrangements are being made for tug-of-war teams from various firms in the city to compete nightly, commencing on Tuesday.
