University, and the second will ei*hei be New Zealand University v. combined Australian Universities or combined Australian and New Zealand University teams v New South Wales Amateur Athletic Association team. The invitation to rhe New Zealand team was procured by Mr B V. Dunbar, an ex-Victoria College athlete. It. ;s practically certain that the tour will be the forerunner of a regular interchange of visits, made probably every second year, similar t«- those undertaker, by the Australian and New Zealand University football teams. In order that the scheme may become firmly established, it is hoped that arrangements can be made to have a visit to New Zealand by Australian University athletes next year, instead of waiting the two years. Among those who have been selected Ramson is perhaps the best known, and his fine record suggests that he should do well in Australia. Ramson,, in 1927, when he was in open company, won the 440 yards uurdles title at the New Zealand championship meeting, held that yeai in Christchurch, and in so doing registered a time which broke the New Zealand record and bettered the best figures for Australia and New Zealand. This fine performance he followed up by dead-heating with F. Nesdale in the 440 yards hurdles championship at the last Aust-alian and New Zealand track and field games nuetlng, hold In Wellington. Ransom has maintained good form, and besides being the holder of the New Zealand 440 yards hurdles title he is also the present Wellington provincial champion for the same event. At the New Zealand University athletic tournament in Christchurch last Easter he won four events —long pimp, 120 yards, 440 yards hurdles, and high jump. Ransom is a great all-round performer, and is one of the finest athletes, in New Zealand to-day. E. K. Eastwood Is the present New Zealand University 220 yards and 440 yards champion, J. N. Goodson was a notul performer when attending St. Patrick’s College, and ran second to Morgan (Auckland) in the 100 yards at the recent University tournament. O. C.
