FREE KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION.
MONTHLY MEETING OP COUNCIL. The council of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association held its monthly meeting on Thursday afternoon in First Church classroom. There were present—Mesdames. Phillips (in the chair), Batham, Brewer, Cameron, Evans, Ewing, G, Gallaway, Glendining,' N. Haggitt, Halsted, J. Hanan, G. Henderson, Hudson, Hutchison, J. A, Jenkins, Mollison, T. K. Sidey, Taverner, Wad-dpll-Smith, Wright, and Miss Scott. Apologies were received from Lady Allen and Mrs G. Mac Lean. The president (Mrs Phillips) extended a welcome to the newly-elected members of council, and in the course of her remarks said that she felt sure they would be interested in the work that the kindergartens are doing for some 300 little children of this city. Miss Dora Hancock, directress at St. Kilda, withdrew her resignation, as intimated at last meeting, and members expressed their Appreciation of her decision. Schools will be closed for the term holidays from May 10 to 28. A refresher course to be held in Christ church next week will be attended by the principal and some of the directors of the free kindergarten schools. A recent jumble sale at Kaikorai Kindergarten, organised by the members of the local committee, was most successful, realising the sum of £33 I (is 8d The garden fete at Richard Hudson Memorial Kindergarten in April tcsulted in the net returns of £95. These moneys will be held by,the local committees for the running expenses of their respective kindergartens. The association thanks all those who helped to make these two functions so successful. Mrs Gilkison has again consented to be convener of the bookstall at the Winter Show. Subscriptions amounting to £2O 12s G(1 wove collected during the month and accounts for payment, £142- 6s 9d' were passed. ’
