CHARGES OF THEFT.
CHINAMAN BEFORE COURT. COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (Per Unitep Press Association.) AUCKLAND, May ii. In the Police Court Albert Hong Duk, a Chinese clerk, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial on seven charges of false pretences and theft, involving-a total sum of £125. The principal charge related to payments made to Duk hy another Chinese under belief that the money was being used to pay for extensions of a permit to reside in New Zealand. Duk was formerly employed as a court interpreter in Auckland.
