COSTS OF STEVEDORING
INCREASE IN AUSTRALIA. LONDON CIRCLES PERTURBED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, April 30. The news cabled from Australia that the pay of waterside workers had been increased per hour and that the New South Wales Government has imposed a tax of 2 per cent, on the wages sheets for child endowment, has caused surprise in business circles, as these impositions will entail large increases in the costs of stevedoring'to steamshin companies. Disappointment is expressed that tiie visit of the shipping delegation was apparently futile, as far as securing reductions in costs in Australia was concerned.—Australian Press Association.
