BRITISH INDUSTRIES FAIR.
AT OLYMPIA NEXT YEAR. (From Odr Own, Correspondent.) LONDON, March 21. The British Industries Fair will be held next year at Olympia, instead of at the White City, which has been its home in past years. The fair will, as usual, open on the third Monday in February, February 17, and will' remain open, until Friday. February 28. ’ ' The'Board of Trade Overseas Department, which is responsible for the fair, made, the 'announcement of the change yesterday. Mr Douglas. Hacking,. Parliamentary , Secretary to • the department, said.: • . • ' , “ The, difficulty.with which we are faced was that the White City was the only exhibition building 1 in London large enougn to accommodate the fair even at its present size, and that no other building would allow the expatsiin which experience has shown to be likely in the future. I am now assured, however, that, the fresh construction being put 1 in band*at Olympia will allow, of space ■ for next year only • a little less than that occupied this year at the .White City; Arrangements ,are also being made Tor future expansion to meet the confidently anticipated growth of the fair.” ; ; y 1 : Mr Hacking' added - that it - was really impossible, without wholesale reconstruction, to make the White ‘ City" buildings, which were expressly designed for a large summer exhibition, suitable for a trade fair held in February. He .was happy To feel that the future accommodation of. the fair at Olympia, with- its heating Equipment and food catering-facilities,-was-as-sured. He Was glad also that: it had been I possible to . reach .a’ decision ’so promptly, | since it was vital that the publicity cniripaign on,behalf of ■ the fairi for which-the Government had again granted. £25.000, should be launched : aa’'early as possible.
