The following is the Report of the.local meteorological station for the' month of April, 1029: Average reading of barometer at 0 a.tn., 20.98 iii; highest (Ist) ■ '30.42m; lowest (30th) 20.28iri; extreme range, l.Hiii. i Average shade temperature at 9 a.m,, 45.1 deg; highest (18th), 58.2 deg; lowest (22nd), 34.4 deg. (Average for March, 54.8 deg; for April, 1928, SO.ldeg). Shade Temperature.—Average maximum, Gl.Ddeg (March, ,69.1 deg; April, 1028, Gl.Sdeg)'. Average' minimum, 35.1 deg (March, 43.4 deg; April, 1928, 41.8 deg). .Approximate mean temperature, 48.5 deg, (March, 56.2 deg; April, 1928,- sl.Bdeg).‘ The highest maximum was 70.8dcg ■on the 13th; the lowest minimum, 26.2 deg oh Ist and 22nd; the extreme range, 44.Gdeg. (For April, 1928, the corresponding records were:— Maximum, 74.2 deg; minimum, 28.1 deg; range, 46.1 deg).. Average dry-bulb and -wet-bulb,—9 a.m., dry 45.Ideg, wet 44.3 deg; 3 p.m., dry 59.8 deg, wet, 53.4 deg. Mean relative" humidity, 9 a.m., 93.5 per cent; :} p.m. 63.0 per cent, of saturation. Minimum grass temperature.—Average, 29.6 deg (March, 36.5 deg; April, 1928, 36.7 deg). Highest. (15th), 46.5 deg.; lowest (Ist), 18.4 deg. The temperature fell to 32.0 deg and lower on 20 mornings (March, 11 mornings; April, 1928, 11 mornings; April, 1927, 20 morning's). Other Tow records were: 22nd, . 20.3 deg; 2nd, 20.4degs 30th 21. Ideg. ° ’ Maximum solar, radiation.—Average, 103.3 deg-, highest (7th) 122.8 deg; lowest (29th) 51.5 deg. Average Clearness of Sky.—7 a.m., 51 per cent.; !9.a.m., 65 percent.; 7 p.m., 63.0 per cent ; 10 p.m., 67 per cent. Wind recorded at 9 a.m.: Nil on all 30 days. Rainfall.-—l3th, 11 points; 14th, 14 points; loth, 84 points; 17th, 2 points; 2,Bth, 19 points; 29th, 20 points; total, l.oOin mi six days. Preceding five years’ average for April, 187 points on 7.6 days. . , Other Phenomena.—Dew occurred on 24 mornings. Mist on sth till 10.30 Fog.on 6th, 10th, ,J3th and 17th till 7.45 a.m. On the night of the 15th a light snowfall occurred on the Dunstan Range above ,4300 feet altitude; again, on the 20th, above 3800 feet altitude. General Remarks.—A remarkably calm and clear month. Heavy drop in night temperature of B.3deg compared with March. In spite of cool nights, the many warm sunny days following the good rainfall in March, produced an almost spring-like growth of grass.
