RUGBY MATTERS.
ENGLISH TOUR OF 1930, THROW-XNTO-TOUQH RULE. (From Cue Own Correspondent.) LONDON, March 19. On the eve of the England-Scotland Rugby match in Edinburgh the International Board met to discuss various questions. Still another meeting was that of the Selection Committee for the Rugby Union tour in New Zealand and Australia in 1930. At this latter meeting the committee (Messrs J. Baxter A. D. Stoop, J. Daniell, E. Gwyn Nicholls, and G. V. Stephenson) talked about various players who might be included in the touring team. It is understood that the members of the committee propose getting into early touch wih players who may be likely candidates for the tour, and giving them ample notice of the call that may come to them in the hope that they may thus be able to make the necessary arrangements to get away. - “ Among matters discussed by the International Board was the proposal to invite the South African Rugby Union to send a team to tour England, ScotIreland, and Wales in the season c- FfV* 00s > captain “ South African touring team of 1906-7’ was present by invitation, and put before the board the views held by the dominions on the subject of their greater share in the government of the game.
Among other matters which the board discussed were the ever-present problem of getting the ball into the scrummage and the less usual one of the way to stand when the ball is to be thrown in from touch. In order to have a uniform rule it was decided that a player must have both feet in touch.
