Ministerial. The Prime Minister (Sir Joseph' Ward) celebrated his'seventy-third birthday on Friday. The occasion (says the Dominion) was marked by the reception of. an avalanche of congratulatory messages from every part of the Dominion. “I feel none the worse for wear; in fact, I have never felt better,” said Sir Joseph, with a smile, in acknowledging the congratulations of an interviewer. “1- had completely forgotten that it wae my birthday until the telegrams commenced to arrive. The kindly sentiments expressed by the senders are very deeply appreciated.”

Mr A. C. 'Hanlon travelled to ,'i'imaru by the second express yesterday. Mr E. Howlison left Dunedin yesterday for Wellington. Mr Charles Todd will leave Dunedin on May 16 for a trip to England. Mr Colquhoun, who has been associated with the department for the last nine years, has acted as local officer in charge at both Dunedin and Christchurch, and Mr F. Johnson has been an officer of the department for the past four years and ahalf, first at Wellington, .and more recently as offieer-m-charge at Dunedin.
