WOMAN COMMITS SUICIDE. OUTCOME OP, DESPONDENCY. (United Press Association.) ' (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) , SYDNEY, April 29. : Despondent owing to. unemployment and a fancied mistake in love, Marjorie Talk, 30 years of age and single, used her last twopence to operate- the gas meter in a Darlinghurst flat on Friday morning and asphyxiated herself. Her body was discovered yesterday. According to-statements that she made before her death, her parents are living in New Zealand. TRAGEDY IN QUEENSLAND. REMAINS POUND IN FIRE, BRISBANE, April 29. A dreadful tragedy is reported from Surat. Human .remains, believed to be those of Jack Green, aged 60,. who has been missing for some weeks, were discovered by the police in the debris ' of a fire. ■ Two young men, who were seen driving Green’s turnout, have been detained. There were signs that the fire was a very fierce one. * MOTOR CAR OVERTURNS. WOMAN DIES PROM INJURIES. SYDNEY. April 29. A motor car overturned for an unexplained reason at Bankstown, ani caught fire. The occupants (two men and two women) were all grievously injured. One, Lily Anderson; aged 22, died soon after,she was admitted to hospital. STORMY WEATHER ON COAST. SHIPPING DELAYED. SYDNEY, April 29. (Received April 29, at 9 p.m.) Cyclonic conditions off the coast have demoralised shipping, and many steamers are arriving at Sydney late, some as much as 24 hours. The Marama, from Wellington, and the Maunganui, from Auckland, report heavy weather, and they will not arrive- till mid-day to-morrow. TRAGEDY IN SYDNEY SUBURB. COUPLE WITH THROATS CUT/ SYDNEY, April 29. A tragedy occurred this afternoon at Bankstown, a suburb, as the outcome of , domestic unhappiness. Clara Hess, aged 24, is dead, and Phillip Hess, aged 28, is in a critical condition. The throats of both victims were severely gashed with a razor, while the man nlso bad a bullet wound in the head. Neighbours heard screams, but they arrived too late to render assistance. The husband was observed hacking his own throat in the bathroom.
