✓1 OBJECTION TO TAXES. THEATRES TCP BE CLOSED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) PARIS, April 27. As a protest against the State and municipal charity taxes, which are declared to be crippling the industry, the National Theatre Congress at Nice resolved to close all the French theatres, throwing out of work 100,000 persons. The resolution will operate on Slay 15 unless Parliament is summoned specially to give relief by amending legislation. At present'it stands adjourned till the end of May. ■ The chief objection is to the charity tax known as the “ fight of the poor.”—Australian Press Association— United Service.
