ACCLIMATISATION MATTERS.

MONTHLY MEETING OF SOCIETY. . The monthly meeting of the Executive Council,of. the Otago Acclimatisation Society was held last night in the. board room of the secretary '(Mr K. Harming). Mr.C. Baker occupied the chair, and there were also present: Messrs H. M'Dowell Smith, C. A. Wilson, S. Cousins, S. F. Aburn. W. G. Reid, J. R'. Wilson, W. T. Henaghan, and A. J. White. GAME COMMITTEE. The Game Committee reported as follows; The Department of Interpnl Affairs (Wellington)" wrote giving details of tines received on account of the society, and also particulars of, sales of confiscated skins ' and traps. The same department wrote advising that, with regard to tines recovered, 5 per cent, was deducted by the Treasury and a proportionate amount by the Internal Affairs Department, and advising that arrangements were being made for an open season for opossums.—■ The letters were .received.' The; conservator of forests (Invercariiill) wrote, enclosing a list of persons convicted under the State Forest Act of offences against the opossuni regulations. —Received. The t Commissioner of Crown Lands (Dunedin) wrote'agreeing to send a representative to the conference.—Received. The conservator of State forests (Invcreargill) wrote regarding the ranging of opossum forests.—Received. The Commissioner of. Crown Lands (Invcrcargill) wrote regarding the proposal to lipid a conference.—Received. Alr.R. J. E. Mr R. G. Varcoe. (Cromwell) wrote enclosing a petition signed, by 12 Cromwell license holders asking that the limit of quail .which may be taken in one dav be extended to 30 instead of 20.—1 t was decided .that it was too late to alter it this year, and it was suggested a letter should be sent earlier nest year. The report was adopted.. ANGLING COMMITTEE. ' The Angling Committee reported as follows for the pionth:— The manager recommended that as many trout eggs as possible be procured during the spawning season. The curator recommended that Mr Adamson should be authorised to get assistance for the work of separating the stock, fish at the Clinton hatcherv. also that the rangers Fhould be asked l 'to get some moss for sending away trout eggs.
