LOYAL ORANGE INSTITUTION.

The annual meeting of No. 3 District Lodge was held in the Orange Hall.' l eitli street, on Saturday afternoon and evening. District Master Bro. G. A. Perrin presided over a large representative gathering of officers and delegates from judges between Oamaru. Balclutha, and Kaitangata. After the usual routine business was dispensed with, District Master ilro. Perrin gave a lengthy and comprehensive review of the work of the District Lodge for the year. The report shower, that much valuable ''and effective work had been carried out by the executive, and the principles of the institution and Protestantism greatly enhanced. In visiting all the lodges in the district, the Dunedin members of the District Lodge had travelled 852 miles. Progress and finance had been steadily maintained, and reflected credit on the acumen of the executive officers. P.D.M. Bro. F. Tombs reported on having placed a wreath on behalf of the District Lodge on the cenotaph at the Drill Hall on Anzac Day, anc 1 thanked the executive for conferring the honounr on him of discharging that sacred duty to “ fallen comrades.” District Master Bro. Perrin gave an instructive and comprehensive report of the annual sessions of the Grand Orange Lodge of New Zealand, held in Christchurch at Easter. The passing away of Bro. F. Wilkinson. P.D.M.. and .Mrs T. Tily were honoured in silence-R,.-giet was expressed at the retirement of two of the older brethren from* the Dish ict ■ Lodge—Bro. W. Stenhenson, P.D.M.. and Bro. J. Weir, D.S.D. It was decided to place on record their past services. A committee consisting of D.M, Bro. Perrin. P.D.M.’s Bros. Kirkpatrick and Tombs, D D. Ceremonies Bro. Benfell, and Bro. J. Clark , was appointed to take the necessary steps for the establishment of juvenile lodges. After the tea adjournment the roll call of delegates for the ensuing year was creditably responded to. Wor. Bro. T. Ross, grand deputy master of the Grand Orange Lodge of New Zealand, .accompanied by P.G.M. Bro. M’Farlane. Grand Secretary Bro. J. W. Patton, and Grand Committeeman Bro. W. H. Lyons were received with the customary honours. After responding to the cordial reception accorded him, Wor. Bro. Ross, assisted by the G.L. officers, and P.D.M. Bro. Kirkpatrick, acting as director of ceremonies, conducted the nomination, election, and installation of officers for the ensuing 12 months, which resulted as follows: District master, Bro. M. Campbell (30): I-P.D.M.. Bro. G. Perrin (12); D.D.M., Bro. R. Bruce (40); D. chaplain, Bro. E. A. Benfell (30); D. secretary, Bro. E. H. Sincock (12). re-elected; D. treasurer, Bro. J. Wallis (12). re-elected; D. foreman. committee. Bro. George Mawhinney (21). re-elected: D. director ceremonies, Bro. R. M'Meeking (34); D. senior deacon. Bro. H. Bedwcll (20); D. junior deacon. Bro. J. Clark (105); D. organist, Bro. Bassett (20); D. inner guard, Bro. W Anderson (34); D. tyler. Bro. James Mawhinney (21); D. committee. Bros W. Murie (12). D. Taylor (21), J, Robb 21). W. Martin (105): auditors, Bro. A. Kirkpatrick. P.DAI. (105), and J. Robb (21). G.D.M. Bro, Ross conveyed the greetings of the-Grand Lodge from No. 5 district, Christchurch, and Deputy District Master Bro, Bruce pledged the support and respe-’t of officers and delegates of No. 3 District Lodge. Dunedin. It was decided that the sitting officers, with power to add, constitute the July 12 Celebrations Committee, also that the nsqal honours be conferred on the retiring D.M. and D. secretary.
