GRATITUDE FOR KING’S RECOVERY. LONDON HOSPITAL TO BENEFIT. NUCLEUS OF LARGER FUND. (United Press Association.} (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, April 2S. (Received April 28, at II p.m.) A great thank-offering fund for the King's recovery has been initiated by in anonymous donor, vho in a letter to Lord Stamfordham, signed “Audax,” says that, in view of his Majesty’s gracious letter to his people referring to his long illness and recovery, “T wish to give expression in some tangible form to the relief and gratitude which 1 share with all his Majesty’s subjects, and I should like to make a gift to help fo-* ward some cause which in a special degree has the King’s personal sympathy and interest and will be a lasting benefit to the community.” The writer added that the most appropriate object appeared to be the King Edward Hospital Fund for London, for which purpose he propose! setting aside 100,000 guineas, spread over seven years, in the hope that R would be the nucleus of a large thank-offering fund. Lord Stamfordham, after consultation with the King, sent a letter to the fun! saying that his Majesty appreciated the kindly thought and generosity of “ Audax,” and shared the hope that the gift would Dc the nucleus of a larger fund. The King’s illness had brought home to him more clearly than ever the resources of modern medical science and the value of devoted nursing. Medicai science owes much of its development to the great hospitals which also constitution admirable training ground for the nursing profession.
