SATURDAY'S MATCHES. The follo-ivine table gives the relative positions of teams in.the first division:—

FIRST GRADE. TECHNICAL v. MAORI HILL. Technical Old Boys met and defeated Maori Hill at Logan Park. T.he ground wag in ereat order, and a fair attendance witnessed a fast, clean game. With the kickoff, Technical started a forward movement, taking play right up to Maori Hill's goal, but the ball was kicked over the bar. For some time the lechnical team pressed, plaving nicely in combination, but Maori Hill shortly took the game in hand, and in no time Holden had t- save a fine shot bv Martin. J. lay continued to move quickly, and some fine play on both side': was witnessed. From a centre by Balk, matters looked dangerous for a moment, and Maori Hill pressed closely for some minutes. Technical forwards, well backed up by their halves then showed up &#k 0d ad% ' a ? , With a fine attack Batchelor shot well, but Calaghan. throwing himself at full length, tipped the ball clear of tlie post, and PattoD skied over the bar Morris, from the goal kick, SSn t - W>innia, who centred well, but Maori Hill forward* were not up. Technical had the ball awav immediately and Witchnll put in a lovely ground shot b„t OalagU was safe! Armishaw shortly added to Technical s score, making the score 4—l. Soon alter Calaghan was ordered off for kicking a player, and Dougall took over the place ni goal. Technical conceded a corner, and Balk's kick was beautifully placed, but Proctor cleared. Technical's defence was called on time and again, but they were proving strong enough for anything that came forward. Later Maori Hill were successful in again" scoring. Technical, 4;. Maori Hill, 2. Maori Hill continued to press, Balk centring well and Baillie and M'Whinnie tried desperateiy to Bcore. M'Whinnie was unlucky in not adding to the score, and for a while the game was in favour of Maori Hill. A melee followed in front at Technical's' goal and .was relieved by a corner kick. The later stages were lacking in interest. Maori Hill's halves, Brown, Thompson, and Morris worked hard, feeding their forwards, but Anderson and Proctor, Technical's' backs, were capable of stopping all rushes. The game, controlled by Mr F. G. Smith, ended:— Technical .. .. .. 4 goals. Maori Hill 2 goals. NORTHERN v. MOSGIEL. Quite an interesting game was provided by the Northern-Mosgiel fixture at the Gardens, the former scoring four times to the latter's twice.- Mosgiel played down hill in the first spell and attacked strongly in the early stages, but without result. Northern's first goal was the result of good play by Thomson, centre-half, who beat a couple of opponents and sent a long transfer to Warnock, Graham cleared the latter's shot with a strong kick, which rebounded through the goal off Warnock, who had followed up. Northern, 1; Mosgiel, nil. Mosgiel pressed from the kick off, and M'Quarrie was called on to save shots from Groves and M'Dowall, while White had a great chance, but shot poorly. Northern cleared and took a hand in the attack, the ball going to Young and Warnock for the latter to score, although both appeared offside. Northern, 2; Mosgiel, nil. Mosgiel returned to the attack, and good concerted work on their" behalf saw M'Cloy. Mosgiel centre-half, anticipating well and beating M'Quarrie.. with a hot shot. Northern. 2; Mosgiel. 1. Both teams attacked in turn, but nothing sensational happened apart from a great drive by Heenan, which •Graham, in goal, saved in great style. Mosgiel were ,pn the attack as the half time whistle sounded. Northern, now playing down hill, attacked most of the time in the second spell, and, except for occasional dangerous breakaways, Mosgiel were well held. Hughes, on the right wing, sent over some nice centres, from one of which M'Hugh beat Graham. Northern, 3; Mosgiel. 1. Northern kept up the pressure, and a splendid header by Young hit the crossbar, and the same player placed over from the rebound. Warnock received from the goal kick, and, cleverly beating a couple of players, netted with a good shot. Northern, 4; Mosgiel. 1. Immediately after the kick off Mosgiel attacked, and a combined movement ended in Groves ponling with a good shot. Northern. 4; Mosgiel, 2. Northern held the upper hand until the end of the game, which ended: — Northern .. .. .. 4 goals. Mosgiel 2 goals. SEACLIFF v. Y.M.C.A. The YJM.CA. travelled to Seacliff, and the match was played under ideal conditions. Farquhai'son kicked off for Y.M.C.A., when the local side secured, but the attack ended with a good save by Cobe. Seacliff repulsed a forward movement by the visitors and tested Oastler. the Y.M.C.A. goalie, who cleared well. Farquharson, of the Y.M.C.A. team, recived a cut in the leg and had to retire after five minutes' play. From a throw hi Seacliff secured a free kick, which was well returned by R. .M'Pherson. A foul against Seacliff proved without advantage to Y.M.C.A., and up and dor u play followed, Taylor and Welch being prominent for tf.M.C.A. and Baillie for Seacliff. The return of Farquharson benefited the visitors' play, but' although 'hey opened up several likely movements, the defence of Seacliff's rearguard was equal to the, strain. Shortly before half time Se:icliff made a successful attack/Hooper scoring the opening goal. On resuming, Y.M.C:A. set up a stronu attack and went close to scoring. An attack by Seacliff ended in a free kick to the visitors, and R. M'Pherson held ud a

further advance by good, defensive play. Eventually, however, Simmonds was successful in eluding the defence and scoring. Seacliff 2, Y.M.C.A. nil. Although Y.M.C.A. were playing well,'their attacking movements failed to pierce the defence of the local side. A Seacliff attack ended in a corner kick against Y.M.C.A., and fi'om a good cross M'Cormack scored Seacliff’s third goal. The game ended short! v after with the scores: Seacliff 3 goals.
