ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

LEVEL CROSSING ACCIDENT, (Special to Daily Times.j AUCKLAND, April 26. Another level crossing accident occurred in Argyle street, Morningside, today at about 9.45 a.m,, when a train ran into a light motor lorry owned by E. Rowell, a carrier, of Kingsland. The lorry, which was proceeding wards New North road and carrying a load of timber, was practically across the rails when it was struck by a train coming out of a siding. The timber, and the rear part of the lorry were lifted clean off the chassis and hurled down at the side of the crossing. Tht driver escaped injury and the lorry was not otherwise damaged except for one lyre being torn off. BODY FOUND ON LINE. SHOCKINGLY MUTILATED. (Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, April 26. The terribly mutilated body of a man was found on the railway line just south of Waipukurau by a train examiner this evening shortly after the departure of the 7 o’clock south-hound train. From papers found on the deceased, who was about 40 years of age, he is believed to be Thomas Hughes, a war-pensioner of Taumiuunui. MAN SEVERELY INJURED. FOUND IN SEMI-CONSCIOUS ’ CONDITION. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, April 26. William Edward Butcher, aged 52, a resident of Mcdbury, was found in a semi-conscious condition alongside the Hurunui bridge early this morning. The man was suffering from severe injuries, and it is thought that he was knocked down by sonic vehicle. W. S. Fitzsimmons. who licves in a hut nearby, heard groans outside the door or his hiit, and there he found Butcher, who had apparently crawled to the spot. Medical attention was secured and the man was removed to the Waikari Hospital. Butcher’s chief injury was a deep wound on the face from the left eye to the ear, the eye being completely destroyed. Up till to-night ho still remained in a semi-conscious condition, unable to give any account of how the accident occurred. COLLISION WITH TRAMCAR. A married man, named Alexander Maun, 27 years of age, residing at Ravelston street, was admitted to the Public Hospital at (5.25 last evening, suflenng from thigh and neck injuries. He was riding a motor cycle and ran into a tramcar at Msuselburgh Rise, His condition is not serious.
