PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, April 11. The following transfers and promotions in regard to the New Zealand police force were announced by the Commissioner of Police (Mr 'W. n. MTlvcncy) to-day:— Sub-Inspector j. Fitzpatrick, of Christchurch, is promoted to the rank of inspector and takes charge o£ the Greymouth East district, replacing Inspector Mathew (retired). , Senior Sergeant P. J, O’Hara, of Christchurch, is promoted to the rank of sub-inspector and remains at Christchurch. Senior Sergeant T. Shanahan, of Oamani, replaces Senior Sergeant O’Hara at Christchurch. Senior Sergeant Donald Scott, of Wellington, -ikes charge of the Oama.ru station. Senior Detective E. K. J. Ward transfers from the detective branch to the n -orm branch to take up the duties of senior sergeant at the Central Police Station, Wellington. Practically all Mr Ward’s service has been in the detective hiauch, and as his time for promotion to commissioned rank is approaching ho returns to the uniform branch to obtain some experience in it before his appointment to commissioned rank. Senior Sergeant diaries W. LopdeM, of Wanganui, is transfer’ d from the uniform branch to be chief detective in the detective branch at Wellington, Tbs whole of Mr Lopdell’s service has been in the uniform branch, and as his time for promotion to the rank of sub inspectoi is approaching he has been appointed to the detective branch to gain some experience of the work there before promotion to commissioned rank. He is the senior non-commissioned oflicor qualified for promotion to sub-inspector. Senior Sergeant D. A. Maclean, of Gisborne, is transferred to Wanganui . Sergeant 11, C. D. Wade, of Wairoa, is appointed senior sergeant at Gisborne. Sergeant E, Quaile, of Napier, takes charge of the Wairoa station. Sergeant J. E. Hodgson, of Wellington, transfers to Napier.' Detective Thomas Fitzgibbon, of Napier, is promoted to the rank of detectivc-sorgcant, and remains at that station. Constable J. Carmody, of Thornton fetation, Wellington, is promoted to the rank of sergcaiit and remains at Wellington. Constable D. Crewe, of Picton, takes charge of Thornton station, Wellington. Constable T. N. Condon, of Brooklyn, takes charge of Picton station. Constable E. W. Strafon, Upper Hutt assumes charge at Brooklyn. Detective-Sergeant J. Thompson, of Wellington, transfers to Hamilton to replace Detective Sweeney (retired). Detective F. Sinclair, of Auckland, transfers to Nelson. Constable T, Y. Hall, of Nelson, Ivansicrs to the detective oflicc at Wellington for further experience before bciim%npomted as a detective. “ * Acting-detective E. 11. Waterson and Constable W. E. Fell, of Auckland, are detailed for duty for 12 months with the Samoan police force.
