FLOOD RELIEF.
EXECUTIVE MEETING. The executive of the Flood Relief Committee met yesterday morning in the Mayor’s room at the Town Hall, and it was reported that the total receipts for the fund now stood at £5029 7s sd. The Deputy Mayor (Mr J. S. Douglas) also r ported having received a letter from the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward), in reply to the Relief Committee s application to the Government for a grant. The letter stated that the Prime Minister would be glad to arrange for the matter to receive careful consideration.
