DUTY OF TEACHERS
EFFICIENCY IN SCHOOLS. MR F. MILNER’S VIEWS. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) VANCOUVER, April 10. (Received April 11/at 8.15 p.m.) Speaking before the local Council of Women, Mr F. Milner, the New Zealand delegate to the National Council of Education, said: “The true test of the'efficiency of the educational systems employed in all schools lies in the typo of manhood and womanhood they produce. Should this not conform to the standard aimed at, immediate and appropriate reconstruction becomes necessary.” He asked that teachers be required to interpret to pupils a far greater reverence for God than was at the moment prevalent in an endeavour to create love for the seemingly inexplicable intricacies of life and to foster respect for Nature and so instil in them the natural tendency towards the learning of the higher arts.
