MOSGIEL MUNICIPAL BAND.
ANNUAL MEETING. The president (Mr J. P. Walls) pre sided over the annual meeting of the Mosgiel Municipal Band last night. The annual report referred to the activities of a successful year. Interest bj members had been well maintained. The playing members at present numbered 34. —five more than at the opening of the year. There were also several beginners anxious'to be in the ranks if instruments could be found for them. Thanks were expressed to the singers who had helped at the after-church concerts in the wintei time, especially to the accompaniste, Miss Bessie Harrison. Reference was madn to an exchange of visits between the band and the Milton Municipal Band, Their visits had proved very enjoyable. At a bandsmen’s reunion last winter some 82 bandsmen foregathered and spent an en joyable evening. Bandsman Brown had presented two photos of past bands. This action was much appreciated. The band had improved their instruments by thi purchase of three new Besson cornets of the latest type. The financial position was quite satisfactory. Thanks were expressed to those who had assisted in the conduct of the band’s affairs, special mention being made ol the conductor (Mr White), the secretary (Mr E. Pullan), Sergeant Wilkie, and Drum-major Lloyd. The public were earnestly thanked for their support. The report and balance sheet were read and adopted. Office-bearers were elected as follows: —President, Mr J. P. Walls; vice-presi-dents, Messrs John Wright and P. J. Frew; auditor, Mr 0. C. M’Lacblan; secretary and treasurer, Mr E. Pullan; sergeant, Mr Jas. Wilkie; corporal, Mr S. J, Wilson; lance-corporal, Mr C. Osborne ; Social Committee —Messrs W. Fogo, S. J. Wilson, Jas, Wilkie, B. Watt, H. Larsen, A. White, L. Graham; drum-major, Mr Lloyd; General Committee —Messrs J, Wilkie, A. White, T Fogo, L. Graham, S. Wilson, H, Larsen, B. Watt; custodian, Mr P. Rodgers; librarian, Mr A. White. The meeting passed a recommendation on to the Management Committee that a public meeting be called for the purpose of making arrangements for the holding of a carnival before the end of the present year in aid of the band funds.
