A “ slump in dancing ” appears to have set in in earnest on the Riviera. A correspondent of a London paper writes that the dansants, started earlier in the year at a famous hotel, came to an abrupt end after a week or so, for the excellent reason that no one appeared to want to dance. In the evenings no more than half a dozen couples take the floor, and while matters are a little more' lively ,on gala nights, when presents which cost about half the price of the tickets are handed round to the women. Most of the guests prefer watching the displays by professional dancers to dancing themselves.
