FORBURY PARK TROTTING CLUB.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Forbury Park Trotting Club was held last night, and mas attended by Messrs B. S. Irwin (president), T. T. Ritchie, W. J. L. Conghlan, A, Clark, J. Goldsmid, James Mitchell, A. G. Neill, R. Teller, J. Black, G. J. Barton, John Mitchell. The resignations of Messrs L. J. Joel and Keith Ramsay as members of the chib were accepted with regret. An application by the Whippet Racing Club for permission for the use of the Forbury Park inner enclosure from 2.30 till 4.30 p.m. on Saturdays for training purposes was granted. An application by the Civil Service Harrier Club for the use of the dressing room and racing track on Forbury Park on May 18, May 25, and June 22 was granted. The secretary of the New Zealand Sports Protection League wrote stating that the proposed deputation to the Government with reference to suggested amendments to the Gaming Act had been postponed. A date which would be convenient to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs would be arranged later on.—Received. Mr W. A. Veitch wrote on behalf of the Minister of Internal Affairs acknowledging receipt of an application by the club for a totalisator license for an additional two days’ trotting. He stated that no spare trotting totalisator licenses were available at present which could be granted to the club. The club’s representations would be considered in the event of any totalisator license becoming available _ during the current racing year.— Received. The secretary of the New Zealand Trotting Association wrote stating that the chib’s action in the case of E. Townley and that of Koro Peter, driven by R. B. Berry, bad been endorsed. The writer added that when a stipendiary steward made a statement in support of his opinion on any matter which was heard by the club such statement and charge preferred by the steward against any party should be taken down in writing, and, if necessary, signed by him.—Received. The secretary of the New Zealand Trotting Association wrote stating that at the last meeting of the board an application had been received from R. Townley for a refund of the fine of £25 imposed on him. The matter had been referred to the club to ascertain if it had any recommendation to make.—lt was decided to reply stating that under the rules of -trotting the committee had no right to make any recommendation on the subject. The secretary of the Canterbury Owners and Breeders’ Association forwarded a letter drawing attention to the large number of horses which were at present racing in jogging carts instead of short sulkies. When a smash happened at th post or in the preliminary it would be a great advantage in many cases if a horse that was used to a jogger could be put into a substituted joggcr.—The question was held over in the meantime. The secretary of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association wrote applying for the use of Porbury Park for the purpose of holding three or four motor cycle and athletic meetings next summer. The dates would be fixed before next October, so that a definite programme could be submitted to file racing cyclists. The writer expressed appreciation of the facilities granted by the club to the centre in the past.—The application was granted on the same terms as previously. The following were appointed a Judicial Committee for the winter meeting:— Messrs Irwin, Black, Clark, James Mitchell, and Neill. It was decided that the first race on each day of the winter meeting be started at 11.15 a.m. and the last race at 4.30 p.m. Accounts amounting to £26 Is 8d were passed for payment. It was decided to hold a special meeting on Monday night to discuss the question of ladies’ tickets and other matters.
