ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FATAL FALL FROM HORSE. (Per ' United Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, February 14. Robert Vernon Bissett, aged 17, of Makarewa, -who was admitted to the Southland Hospital yesterday, suffering from a fractured skull, died early this morning. It appears that he was thrown from a horse at Northope and struck his head heavily against a post. An inquest was opened to-day and adjourned sine die. DEATH OF A NURSE. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 14. / An inquest was opened to-day at the Porirua Mental Hospital on the death of a nurse, Edith May Paynton, from the bursting of a blood vessel in the head some weeks subsequent, to an attack by a mental patient. The medical evidence was to the effect that death was inevitable owing- to aneurism. Allegations were made that the deceased, whq was ill for some time, was neglected by the responsible parties. The inquest will be resumed to-morrow. RUN OVER BY DRAY. Noel Reid, 14 years of age, residing with his parents at 28 Dalmcny street, North-East Valley, was admitted to the Dunedin Hospital at 3 o’clock yesterday afternoon, suffering with a fractured leg. He was run over by a dray at Waitati. His condition is satisfactory.
