MR COATES IN CHRISTCHURCH. SILENT ON POLITICAL TOPICS. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 14. “How do you like being a fanner again 1 ” was a question put to Mr J. G. Coates, Leader of the Opposition and former Prime Minister, this morning shortly aftef his arrival from Wellington to take part in the ceremony to mark the opening of the electric train service on the Christchnrch-Lyttelton line. Mr Coates, who was looking bronzed and fit, replied that he had been a farmer all his life, and during the past couple of months had been looking after his farhi and certain commercial interests. He admitted that he had done a bit of harvesting this year. The cx-Prime Minister declined to be drawn into a discussion on polities, stating that he had not come to Christchurch for that purpose.
