DEPRESSION IN AUSTRALIA. REQUEST FOR INQUIRY REFUSED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph-r-Copyrlght ) CANBERRA, February 14. (Received Feb. 15, at 1.45 a.m.) Mr Bruce to-day received a deputation from the Coal Miners’ Federation, which asked for a comprehensive inquiry into the coal industry. He refused the request, and added that the Commonwealth would grant a subsidy of Is a ton on all coal exported from New South Wales to other States, providing the State Governments granted a similar concession.
