NATIONAL BANK OF NEW ZEALAND.

LONDON STAFF’S DINNER,

(From Oub Own Correspondent.) LONDON, December 21.

Each year the staff of the National Bank of New Zealand holds a dinner for purposes of good fellowship. The eleventh of this series was held at the Trocadero last week, Mr Arthur Willis presiding. The Hon. W. Pcmber Reeves (chairman of the company) was the chief guest. Mr Willis, referring to the late general manager, Mr G. W. MTntosh, said that his memory would always be cherished with affectionate regard by his friends and colleagues in London as well as in New Zealand. Mr J. T. Grose, who had been appointed to succeed Mr MTntosh, would, he was confident, continue to uphold the traditions of the National Bank of New Zealand.

The bank has both a cricket club and a football club. The champion in the cricket club is Mr Macmillan, a New Zealander. It is customary at these dinners for the members of the staff to give a theatrical performance specially written for the occasion and containing many references to the peculiarities of the staff. The performance last week was very well done and highly amusing. An excellent programme of music was also provided by the members of the staff.

Mr Pember Reeves, responding to the toast of the board of directors, made happy reference to the activities of the bank’s various sports clubs, particularly to the Cricket Club, to which he wished continued success on its new ground.
