Mr D. C. Cameron left yesterday morning to visit Palmerston North. He will then proceed to Auckland for the Methodist Conference.

Mr A. W. Low, South Island touring manager for J. C. Williamson, Ltd., left by the express for Christchurch yesterday to join the Midnight Frolics Company.

The Rev. W. B. Scott will leave for the north by the first express to-day for the purpose of attending the sessions of the Methodist Conference in Auckland.

A Press Association telegram from Wellington states that Mr E. R. Wilson (Southland) was elected president of the Architects’ Institute.

Alr.C. Weighton, of Edinburgh, has arrived in Auckland to take up his duties as veterinary officer under the Department of Agriculture (reports our special correspondent). Mr E. Stephens has also arrived to take up a similar position.

Our special correspondent in Auckland states that Major R. Teece has arrived to act as judge at the band contest at Wanganui. A number of teachers will take up various positions at girls’ private schools throughout the Dominion (reports our special correspondent-in Auckland). They are Miss 6. Barber, who will teach domestic -science; Miss A. Davies, who is going to Marton; Miss hi. Moore, teacher of French; Miss R. Betteley, teacher of dancing; Miss D. Greenaway, who is going to Amberley House, North Canterbury; Miss ' fi! Gibbs, who is bound for Dunedin;, and Miss V. Moule, who. will take up kindergarten work.
