COMMUNISTS RESPONSIBLE. ORGANISERS OF A STRIKE. (British' Official Wireless.j (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, February 12. In-the House of Commons, in a statement on the Bombay riots, the Earl of Wiutertou (Under-secretary for India) said. these, originated 'in "a strike of Hindu workers organised by local Communists in-an oil company’s works. The resentment of the strikers against their Pathan substitutes had . gradually developed into a battle between the Hindu and Mohammedan communities, in which the active agents of both sides were bauds of. murderous hooligans. Various contingents of. British and Indian troops had been called in, and the situation, though still serious, was apparently improved. The. total casualties to date were 112 killed and 400 wounded. The troops had had to lire a few.shots on 14 occasions to disperse the mo* the maximum number of rounds fired on any one occasion being 11. Three persons were reported killed and 16 injured by the firing., THE SITUATION IMPROVING. HALF TEE MILLS WORK.I“G. DELHI, February 13. (Received' Feb. 13, ht 11 p.ift.) The situation, at Bombay is slowly improving, the casualties yesterday for .24 hours being three killed and 24 injured. About half the mills are working normally.—United Service.
