TWO FREIGHTERS LOST

CAUGHT IN FIERCE GALE. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) VANCOUVER, February 12. (Received Feb. 13, at 5.5 p.m.) A fierce gale caused the loss of two freighters. ■ The steamer Alloway was being towed from the Aleutian Islands, where she was disabled, when the towline broke and the ship was abandoned. It is believed that the remnant of her crew escaped. The Japanese freighter Meiyo Marti, laden with lumber, was driven ashore at Aiktak Island, and is a total loss. The members of the crew are believed to be safe.—Australian Press Association.
