MR BEN TILLETT
MORAL FOR LABOUR FOLK. GOODS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES. t United Press Association.! (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON,' December 13. (Received Dee. 14, at 5.5 p.m.)
Mr Ben Tillett, when discussing the common tendency to buy goods exported from other countries, said: “A few days ago I saw dockers unloading currants and sultanas from the Levant. . I know the living conditions of and tho wages paid to the.men and women who cultivate and gather them, and I reflected. Nearby ships were unloading similar fruits from Australia, where tho standard of living is more in accord with that for which wo are striving, and I could not help feeling that therein there was a moral for all of us labour folk, mid a seasonable moral, too. 1 appeal to my fellow-countrymen-for fair play within the Empire.”—Australian Press Association.
