PERSONAL.
Dr Roberts was a passenger for Waimate by the north express yesterday. Mr W. B. C. Reid was a passenger for Christchurch by the north express yesterday. Mr W. Hopkins, a director of Marshall’s Proprietary, left by the north express yesterday en route for Melbourne. Constable Fitzgibbon, who has been stationed at Dunedin, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington, and will grobably leave for the north next week, (e will be replaced in Dunedin by Constable Simpson, of Wellington. The many friends of Mr H. R. Spence will regret to hear that he is at, present at Braemar Private Hospital, where, on Tuesday last, he underwent a serious Latest reports indicate that he is making favourable progress towards recovery.
At the annual breakup ceremony at Columba College last evening reference was made by the chairman (the Rev. ij. J. Cairney) to the illness of Mr Walter Gow, who, he said, had always been very keenly interested in-the school and was -ever willing to do what he could in its behalf. It was decided that an expression of- sympathy with Mr Gow in his illness should be sent from the meeting. At a recent meeting of the directors of the Dunedin Bowling Club reference was made to the death of Mr T. A. Maitland, and the following resolution was carried —“The directors of - the Dunedin Bowling Club have learned with great regret of the death of Mr T. A. Maitland. Before _ his illness forced him to relinquish his active participation in the club’s "games aud affairs* Mr Maitland was a very active member. He joined the club in 1305, became president in 1917, and continued his membership until last year. The club was greatly indebted to Mr Maitland for his services,, and the directors desire to extend to his relatives their sincere sympathy with them in their great loss.”
