ANGLO-AUSTRALIAN SERVICE,

OPINION OF MR HINKLER.

(United Press Association.)

(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, December 6. Mr Hinkler, lecturing under the auspices of the Royal Aeronautical Society, detailed the technicalities, construction and manipulation of machines which could be used practically on the' AngloAustralian service. The Avian,. despite its not having been designed for journeying throughout the world, had proved the possibility of designing a machine ensuring equal safety and greater comfort. * •

Referring to Lord Burney’s predicted five-day airship journey to Australia, Mr Hinkler pointed out that it meant a non-stop journey, and also meant attaining a maximum possibility therein, resembling a non-stop transcontinental train in Australia, which was an engineering possibility, but was commercially impracticable. “Experience has convinced me of the practicability of u 14-days’ Anglo-Australian service with comfort and safety within a few years," he —Australian Press Association.
