DOCTORS v. CLERGY. The annual cricket match between the doctors and clergy will be played at Cariebrook to-day, commencing at 2 p.m. The match should provide an' interesting afternoon’s cricket, as. both teams have been practising for some time. Mr Arthur Barnett has presented a cup -to be competed for annually ■ between these two teams. ' DAILY TIMES v. J. C. WILLIAMSON. A' very enjoyable match was played yesterday afternoon on the Caledonian Ground between . teams representing the. Daily Times and the J. C. Williamson English Comedy Company. Sir, George' Fenwick, in a speech at the afternoon tea interval, commented on the good relations that. had always existed between the press and the theatrical companies which, visited this city, apd said that, while he could not hope that the Williamson team would win, he hoped the Daily Times team would not be able to beat them by too much. The wicket was in good order. The J. C, Williamson team, which batted first, made a good, stand, the players who contributed double-figure scores to the total of 98 being: 'Short (26), Haigh (22), Patterson (19), Govoratt, (15), and Hargreaves. (11). Daily Times replied with 147 for four wickets— Cavanagh (51), Tarleton (38), Perry (30), J. M'Gregor (10), and Sinclair, (10, not out). The best bowler for the visitors was Short (two wickets). Those ■who bowled well for the Daily Times were J. M'Gregor (four wickets for one run) and Tarleton (three wickets fox--16). SCHOOLS'. MATCHES.
