AMATEUR VAUDEVILLE TESTS.

From.the opening item of the new series of amateur vaudeville tests; which were held-, at the King Edward Theatre last" evening, it was apparent that the audience was.out to enjoy itself to the full at the expense of the performers, and there were tew indeed' among those , who: appeared before the footlights who did not have to contend with a considerable amount of good-natured banter'front she auditorium. Catcalls and yodels and- other noises indicative of. derision or seme similar sentiment were more particularly directed at the vocalists, but the interruptions were all takeii.in good part/.and the performers were no whit abashed, nor did the quality Sni. items suffer as a consequence. The items ranged from vocal numbers, to dances, dance duos, and instrumental selections, and at the' conclusion of each presentation the audience applauded loudly.' After .the last item all the performers , were paraded on • the platform, and the winner was decided by. popular vote. Messrs Dalziel, and' Crawford were selected to fill first and second places respectively.- Two little girls who gained well-merited applause by their dainty dancing, .Misses..An?ao Patton and Doreen Thomas, were declared to be first equal fpr-the.girls’ prize.
