For brutal offences on a woman aged 65 at Ramarama, and on girl* of 13 at Waiotira, Frederick Thomas Kelly Slav escaped a flogging, but was sentenced in the Supreme Court by Mr Justice Frazer to 10 years’ imprisonment with hard labour on each of the two charges of rape the sentences to be concurrent. On the charges of theft by menace, he was sen* tcuccd to one year’s imprisonment, this term also to be concurrent.
