FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

JORESTBV. The lortnightly meeting of Court King Edward’s Pride, A.0.F., was held on Thursday last, Sister Fraser presiding over a large attendance of members. During the evening one new member was initiated into the Order, and three candidates were proposed for membership. Official visits were received from members from practically all the courts in and around Dunedin, the C.R. duly extending, a welcome to them. Sister Benfell (Queen of Green Island), Bros. Reynolds (Little John), Gaudin (Pride of the Leith), Chalmers (Pride of Green Island), Mercer (Pride of Dunedin), and Baxter (Enterprise) returned thanks on behalf of their respective courts. At the conclusion of the business an American auction caused a great deal of amusement. Bros. Dyke and Fraser kept the bidders very keen, and the pennies foil thickly as the hammer went down. ‘ An enjoyable evening was concluded with dancing. GOOD TEMPLARY.

The weekly meeting of Hope of Dunedin Lodge, No. 155, LO.Q.T., was held in the lodge room on Wednesday last, when C.T. Bro. South opened the lodge in due form, , Reports were received on Reform Council, also from the District Lodge. Two friends were proposed for membership. The members proposed to pay an official visit to the Star of Freedom Lodge at some future date. After the conclusion of business, P.O.T. Bro. Chapman was given a hearty reception, it being the occasion of his twenty-fifth anniversary as a member of the Order. He also extended greetings from Star of Hammersmith, No. 215. After returning thanks, Bro. Chapman entertained the members at supper. The Silver Star Juvenile Temple met the same evening under the guidance of Sister South, sen. A large number of juveniles attended, and after the business Bro. Chapman gave the members a short address, he being heartily welcomed and thanked. The evening was concluded with games.
