A SHRINKAGE IN AUCKLAND. (Sfeoiax, to Dailt Times.) AUCKLAND, December 8. The totalisator receipts for the spring meetings in Auckland show a decrease this year. In the case of racing the decrease was 24 per cent., and in the case of trotting 22 per cent. The sum paid to the Government in taxation by the Takapuna Jockey Club in connection with the spring meeting will be £5173 10s. _ The most successful jockeys at the Takapupa meeting were H. Wiggins and Goldfinch. Wiggins saluted the judge three times—on Jolly Money twice and on Cymon. Goldfinch ;also node three winners—Eager Rose, The Lamb, and Mosque. Goldfinch rode a good race on Golden Wedding in the big race on the second day and secured second money with an eleventh favourite. Golden Wedding’s connections were unfortunate to strike Royal Doulton at the top of his form. SPORT OP TROTTING. PROPOSED SYSTEM OF HANDICAPPING. (Pee United Press Association.) At a meeting of the stewards of the Wellington Trotting Club, the attention of members was drawn to a letter now being circulated for signature asking the president of the New Zealand- Trotting Conference to set up a Special Committee to examine and report on the desirableness of instituting a new system of handicapping under the rules of trotting.
