RIFLE SHOOTING. NEW SOUTH WALES MEETING. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, October 10. (Received Oct. 10, at 5.5 p.m.) At the rifle meeting, in the Jamieson Match (800 yards, Poyitt (Sydney) and Hutchins (Yorkshire), with the possible, shared first place. M'lver (Petone) and Vennell (Masterton) were sixteenth and thirtieth respectively, each taking £l. For the Johnnie Walker Match (900 yards) three competitors—James, Cameron, and Sutton, all of New South Wales —tied with 49. Vennell was eighty-sixth and MTver ninetieth, each taking £l. In the Motion Match (400 yards) four tied with 49, the best being Davies (Victoria) and Natt (South Australia). There were no New Zealanders engaged. The Longfield aggregate was won by James (Parramatta),'with 276 out a possible 300. The first stage of the King’s Prize Match is being fired to-day. THE KING’S PRIZE MATCH. FIRST STAGE FIRED. (Received Oct. 10, at 9 p.m.) Competitors at the Anzac range to-day were occupied with the first stage of the King’s Prize match (300, 500, 600 yards). A moderate to gusty right front wind caught even experienced shots napping. In the Longfield aggregate, which is for six matches on Monday and Tuesday, Vennell was fourteenth with 269, taking £4. The Dodds aggregate for three matches on Tuesday was won by Major James, of Concord, with 141. M'lvyer, who was twentieth with 136, and Vennell, who was fifty-first with 133, each took £l. ALL SPORTS CARNIVAL. The Otago Ladies’ Hockey Association, Southern Rugby Football Club, Northern Association Football Club and Dunedin Highland Pipe Band will conduct a carnival in the Early Settlers’ Hall on October 24, 25, and 26. The organisations concerned find that their sphere of activity is restricted through a lack of financial support, and it is hoped that the carnival will be the means by which their funds will be strengthened. Amusements and entertainments .of all descriptions will ba provided in order that the public may enjoy itself in true carnival spirit. JOHNNIE LECKIE MARRIED. (Pen United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 10. Johnnie Leckie, of Dunedin, professional feather-weight boxing champion of New Zealand, was married quietly at St. Paul s Church, Wellington, to-day, to Miss Eileen M'Guire, of Grcytown. Sharp Son, Oatendale, and Statesman, looking well, worked Usefully at Flemington, while _ Vaals and Black Duchess did easy pacing at Caulfield. . The New Zealander Waicullus, ridden by W. Lewis, won the Geelong Grovedale Handicap to-day in Imin 43sec.
