The Natural History Museum at South Kensington has got so many moths that it doesn’t know what to do. It has just acquired the Oberthur collection of butterliies and moths, which comprises a quarter of a million specimens. Some large and beautiful butterflies lun e been gathered from Chinese Tibet, Madagascar, and Central Africa. Thirteen vans conveyed the collection from France to England, and the task of assimilating the collection into that already in the possession of the. museum will keep the experts occupied for some years. None of the treasures can be seen by the public, because space is lacking, and the great butterfly harvest is at present lodged in the cellars.
