FIRST QUARTER OF YEAR. PROSPECTS OF A SURPLUS. (British Official Wireless.) (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, July 27. In the debate oir the Finance Bill, the third reading of which was passed by the House of Commons to-day, Mr Winston Churchill (Chancellor of the Exchequer) said that as the result of information available at the close of the first quarter of the financial year there was good prospect of a surplus on the year of £14,000,000, and there was no reason why the Budget estimate as a whole should not be made good.
