In the debate oir the Finance Bill, the third reading of which was passed by the House of Commons to-day, Mr Winston Churchill (Chancellor of the Exchequer) said that as the result of information available at the close of the first quarter of the financial year there was good prospect of a surplus on the year of £14,000,000, and there was no reason why the Budget estimate as a whole should not be made good.
