The news that the followers 'of exGovernor Lowden for the Republican nomination are now inclined to rally to Mr Hoover had a heartening effect at Hoover headquarters. While there is no indication that the Lowden group, which battled valiantly for farm relief, will offer active support, there is a conviction m their minds that nothing will be gained by leaving the Republican Party. Congressman Morton Hull, who advised Mr Hoover on the change of attitude by the Lowden followers, explained: "So far as agriculture is concerned, there is nothing on offer in the Democratic platform which gives an advantage over the Republican platform. The American farmer appreciates the legislative difficulties, and is unwilling to take a chance of changing his political affiliation with no gain.”— Australian Press Association.
