CONFERENCE AT GENEVA. DISCUSSION ON NAURU CHINESE. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) GENEVA, June 9. The Labour Conference discussed the director’s report, which deals with the health of Chinese when repatriated after service at Nauru, and the high invalidity rate. The report also quotes the Mandates Commission’s suggestion that the numbers of “ unfits ” might be reduced by a thorough medical examination at Hongkong before their departure. Sir Granville Ryrie (Australia)_ said a communication from the Administrator at Nauru pointed out that every effort was made to ensure careful examination before embarkation at Nauru. Statistics regarding the repatriated men disclosed that none of the ailments was directly attributable to the conditions under which they worked. He assured the conferenceHhat Australia’s first consideration was the health and welfare of the peoples for whom she was responsible. The discussion will be continued, the president announcing that there were still forty speakers to be heard. An effort is being made to conclude by June 16. —United Service.
