CONCESSIONS IN N PRICES.

TO THIS EDITOR. Sib, — I wish to draw attention to an unfair system that is encouraged by some of our leading retail shops. My wife purchased some goods in one of these concerns and. as usual, paid cash for them. Another lady purchased similar goods at the same price, but by being a member of the Railway Cash Purchasing Association will receive a discount. The vendor gives a concession to the association’s members in order to obtain their cu'stom. It has been held in a recent English case that a combination of people in order to lower the vendor’s price or obtain concessions is just as illegal as an association of vendors formed to force up the price of goods, etc. The straight dealing method is to have “ One price for all, with concessions to none.” —I am, etc., Square Deal.
