LIGHT ’PLANE FOR NEW ZEALAND. SIR CHARLES WAKEFIELD’S GIFT. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, June 9. The Government’s acceptance of the ofier of a light airplane for New Zealand by Sir Charles Wakefield has been communicated to Mr Walter Ingle, manager for New Zealand for Messrs C. C. Wakefield and Co., Ltd., in the following letter from the Priine Minister (Mr J. G. Coates) : Dear Sir, —With reference to your interview with me this morning, in the course of which you handed me a copy of a telegram received from Mr Westcott, general manager for Australia and New Zealand for Messrs C. C. Wakefield and Co., Ltd., of London, respecting an offer from Sir Charles Wakefield to present to New Zealand a light ’plane for civil aviation, I have pleasure in asking you totrahsmit the following reply to Mr Westcott’s telegram:— " The New Zealand Government has received with warm appreciation the intimation of Sir Charles Wakefield’s offer of a light ’plane to aid in the development of civil aviation within the Dominion. Will you be so good as to inform him that his proposed gift is most cordially accepted, and also convey to him an expression of the sincere thanks ,of the Government and the people of New Zealand for his generous 'and public-spirited action. I feel sure that this gift will prove an incentive to civil aviation clubs and help in promoting an enthusiastic air eense in this country?’
