GENERAL DE RIVERA
ENGAGEMENT BROKEN OFF. DIFFERENCES OF OPINION. (United Presa Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) MADRID, June 8. (Received June 10, at 6.6 p.m.) It is officially announced that General De Rivera has broken off his engagement. The announcement caused considerable surprise in Spain, for a Royal license had been issued a month ago yesterday, when it was announced, that King Alfonso would attend the wedding. The Castellanos are stated to be greatly affected, and left' for Paris on Thursday, but it is understood that differences of opinion arose on Monday about the wisdom of certain financial transactions by the Castellanos. After this General de Rivera decided on irrevocable rupture. —Australian Press Association. A cablegram dated April 21 stated that the engagement of General De Rivera to a member of the Castellano family had been announced.
