He smilingly indicated that he had no idea of so contenting himself after hia presidential term. The President said he felt that in discussing his plans ho had not been sufficiently explicit. Some commentators, therefore, wrote that he would pass the time in whittling at the ancestral home after March 1929, the correspondents adopting an expression the President occasionally has used. The knives will gladden the hearts of boys who will receive them as gifts from the President, but Mr Coolidge makes it clear that he .will not need any more of them.
