Pratten (Minister of Customs) will submit to Cabinet to-morrow a report on his recent visit to New Zealand to enable him to negotiate a new I trade treaty with the Dominion. MUTINY AT BATHURST GAOL. A WARDER OVERPOWERED. SYDNEY, April 16. It is just disclosed that a section of the prisoners at Bnthurst Gaol recently mutinied and overpowered the warder in charge of them, and took possession of the boot shop, the contents of which were badly knocked about. PROBLEM OF THE DAY. THE CANCER SCOURGE. SYDNEY, April 16. (Received April 16, at 10 p.m.) Giving evidence before the special Federal Committee which is investigating the establishment of a school of public health in connection with the Sydney University, Professor Chapman said that the most pressing problem confronting the medical profession in Australia to-day is cancer, which accounted for one in ten deaths. The mortality was increasing, but they knew that if better training for medical men was available it could be reduced.—Australian Press Association. THE COOKS' DISPUTE. APPLICATION BY OWNERS. SYDNEY, April 10. (Received April 16, at 11 p.m.) . The ship owners approached the Arbitration Court to-day asking that summonses bo issued requiring the officials of the Marine Cooks' Union of Sydney and Melbourne to appear before the court on Friday next. The owners' application asks for the determination of the award and the insertion of a clause prohibiting members of the Cooks' Union taking part, and also the suspension of the award if members of the Marine Cooks' Union join any strike.—Australian Press Association. NOT WANTED IN JAPAN. LABOUR DELEGATE DEPORTED. SYDNEY, April 16. Advices have been received that Mr J.
